Well, it's lockdown here in Christchurch and our class are making super choices with their learning.

Looking back over the term, we have been keeping safe and enjoying the freedom of being at school. Earlier this term we have been learning basketball skills on a Tuesday and then enjoying playing sport against other schools in our cluster on a Friday.

We have had the services of students from the University of Canterbury who have been taking our football and hockey teams.

Thanks to Nicole, Chloe, Emma, Ian and Campbell for their work with our students.

Summertime reading too!!

Awesome Reading

Kia ora tatou, I have been enjoying reading a number of books during the holidays. I have been borrowing them from various libraries around Christchurch. I also swapped books at the Lilliput library by our Catholic church, St Gregory's. The books have been fiction and nonfiction. It was great to chill out and read when I wasn't out playing sport and catching up with family. Did you read books too?

Pirate treasure...

Ahoy there me hearties. Room 4 have been successfully hunting treasure around the school. They have been creating their own maps with treasure to be found. Can you discover where their treasure is hidden? Can you work out their code and clues? We shall see. Ahahahahaha

Pause Breathe Smile

Kia ora, on Wednesday Jonathan and Tania led us in our restart of the Pause Breathe Smile programme. We have found this very practical as it has helped us to relax and be more in touch with our own feelings. We have also been able to practise mindfulness eating where we take time to really look, taste and sense the texture and richness of our food.

Great success. Ask one of us how it works and we will be happy to share.

Yes we are back

Its been a while and our class had been working offline but now we are back. We have been sharing our experiences and we look to keep our individual blogs going while I share our class activities.

Yesterday we had Cybersmart and we were making sure we understand the information we can share online.

Ruby and Cooper were lovely dogs that we learnt about.

Check it out and see what we are doing later in the week

Harmony through Diversity

Kia ora, we finished our unit on Harmony through Diversity and our last activity required creating a game or modifying a game to illustrate their understanding. So....yes we had games written in more than one language, games that catered for people who had physical disabilities and those who also had learning ones too.

We are looking to post these soon as well as the feedback from those that took part in the games.

We also wrote free verse poems showing how we can change and show caring to others.

Tiger and lion

When tiger and lion was playing with each other they would fight.
Because they don’t like each other because they both are bullies and
They bully any one and even each other.
And everything they do is being mean.

One day when some animal was hurt, the tiger helped the animal
When he looked at his face he saw, lion.
When tiger was helping lion, he said to him do you want to be friends and tiger said yes.
So when a tiger goes somewhere lions goes too. And anywhere they go they go no one with get hurt or bullied

St Patrick's Day Celebration

It was a grand way to celebrate St Patrick as a faithful follower of The Catholic Faith. After our morning service we enjoyed the parade and activities that followed. St Patrick worked tirelessly in his service and love of God.

We have accepted our challenge to prepare for Easter through prayer, almsgiving and making a sacrifice throughout the Lenten period. We each have made a commitment so check out our blogs so you too can help encourage us to keep that commitment.  Kia kaha
